Find out more about

It is available for any vendors or companies that want to migrate and improve their proprietary telecommunication network or central office application server to open standard one. Introducing, Kontron Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC, or PICMG AdvancedMC) Modules and Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture Boards (ATCA).

AMC (AdvancedMC) is the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group’s specification (PICMG AMC.0, AMC.1, AMC.2, AMC.3 and AMC.4 respectively) for hot-swappable FRUs (field replaceable units) and field-replaceable mezzanine cards, enabling them to be replaced individually in the field. It is more attractive by enhancing its scalability, flexibility, and upgradeability. By combining a general-purpose AdvancedTCA board with application-specific AdvancedMC modules, designers can create versatile telecom blades whose functionality and capacity can be upgraded without replacing the entire blade.

AdvancedMC is optimized for high-performance packet-based telecom environments, but TDM emulators are available for interacting with the PSTN. AdvancedMC modules communicate with the AdvancedTCA boards via a packet-based serial interface. Ethernet is the de facto protocol, but the AdvancedMC interface (with ATCA) can support any number of protocols, including PCI Express, RapidIO, StarFabric, and InfiniBand with various topologies such as point-to-point, dual star and mesh topologies. AdvancedMC modules also can be used to provide a broad range of processor (such as CPUs, network processors, and DSPs), co-processor (such as encryption/decryption engines). In order to get your application to market rapidly, please learn more about the Kontron AdvancedTCA Integrated Platforms and or the Kontron portfolio of GbE and 10GbE open modular platforms.
