According to Broward County Sheriff’s Office, at least 25% of total traffic fatalities in Florida were alcohol-related (2004). This figure is quite worrying and growing every year. Therefore, proactive action of both Florida’s law enforcement and society is very important to overcome the problem. And the three divisions of Broward County DUI (Driving Under the Influence) Unit are expected to be able to sour the DUI offenders and educate the public of the importance of safety on the road. Similarly, every Florida’s driver must have self-awareness of the dangers of DUI and be able to cooperate well when the officers do their duty.

However, any possibility that may come, you can just get stuck in a DUI arrest situation, whether intentional or not. The DUI case penalties can be very high if we explain the kink and the wrong reasons. Randy Berman* explained that some police officers with the experience and training for many years will try to interrogate us (even with lies) and encourage us to issue false statements which are then collected as evidence to incriminate us in court. Even worse our license will be suspended for a year and our job will be in jeopardy.

Most of us don’t know our rights as well as DUI process and procedure. Therefore hiring a DUI lawyer is good decision to protect our rights and handle all the process to minimize the consequences we face. As Randy said that the best way to avoid any mistake when we are being arrested is to invoke our right to remain silent, and let the lawyers to represent us to defend our legal right of presumption of innocence. The DUI lawyers will evaluate the charges and everything that supports the arrest. If the charges are not strong supported, the lawyers have a good chance of getting the charges dismissed.

*Randy Berman is Florida’s criminal trial lawyer who has handled many cases over 27 years, especially in the areas of law such as misdemeanors, major traffic crimes, violations of probation, violent crimes, sex crimes, drug crimes, etc.
